The exponential growth of the data traffic due to IoT is making the network a bottleneck; the delay between request and reply is called latency and in a near future it won’t be suitable for the performance required by applications like self-driven cars. This might change the datacenter topology.

A possible solution is the Edge computing based on multiple micro datacenters close to the things they are interacting with.

Edge data center offer a quick response to local elaboration and at the same time they are efficiently connected to the central cloud that represents coordination, aggregation, storage, back-end machine learning.
